Pools, and Schools!

Lots of things all appearing in quick succession which is very exciting! This is the first time both me and my laptop have reached an internet cafe at the same time, so lots of stories to tell. Still a bit shocked that I haven't had a week here yet!

On Monday I had to go to school in the morning, my first proper visit to St James' and I've learnt that sitting in the staff room for long periods of time without water is a bit of a drain on fluids!

Luckily though, eventually, we (Jennie, Martin and I) departed for Lakesite Primary School! I already knew a little bit about Lakesite because BCS sponsors several students so I'd seen my fair share of pictures of it. It was beautiful, just a little bit up the hill from the nile you can see all the way down and everything is a beautiful green.

Unfortunately, the school itself isn't  quite as beautiful as its view. This is just one of the doors to the classrooms, but to be honest they all looked in about the same shape. Although, some of the rooms do have beautifully crafted octopus paintings to lighten the mood! Overall though, everyone was very friendly and I definitely look forward to teaching P4 (I haven't a clue how old they are, but it goes up to P7 before you go to secondary school)

When Jennie and I returned it was straight to Nile Resort with some people from the guest house for a testing of the pool. This was so fantastic and I was so impressed that unfortunately I ended up taking so many lens flare pictures of the sun that if I ever see a single silhouette again my eyes will bleed... Here's one of the 47 I took!

The pool was great fun though, especially since we were, for most of the time the only five people there!

Tuesday was far less eventful, spent the morning painting a water tower blue in the blazing hot sun which exhausted me, so I sat around reading for most of the rest of it.

Today I've been to St James' got my timetable and then watched two Physics lessons. Not quite the same as what I remember of my Physics practicals, which involved cake and sweeties, this involved four people to an experiment, and no results until next lesson!!

I had a look at the computer lab, the internet for which hasn't yet been paid, although it was filled with some computer which certainly look like they will appreciate the relief that some new computers in a few weeks will bring!

Hi Connor

Pool sounded wonderful. Hope you get to spend more time there. Careful not to get sun burned. Granny XX
